A workshop on parameter estimation and inverse problems was held in conjunction with the ASME Summer Heat Transfer Conference in 2024. . The workshop consisted of two back-to-back sessions providing a comprehensive understanding of the concepts, algorithms, and applications, and these lectures were delivered through the three presentation slide decks below.

The first presentation deck focuses on Parameter Estimation, covering fundamental concepts such as Sensitivity Coefficients, Algorithms for Parameter Estimation, and Optimal Experimental Design. Practical examples including the quenching of lumped bodies and estimating temperature-dependent anisotropic material properties are included.

The second presentation presents IHCP concepts such as Ill-posedness, Regularization, IHCP definition, and early solution methods for solving IHCPs are discussed. Various solution techniques for IHCPs and explore Optimal Regularization strategies are explored.

The third presentation covers real-time solutions for IHCPs, showcasing the applicability of the Filter Coefficient Method across multi-layer and multi-dimensional domains, including considerations for temperature-dependent material properties, and moving boundaries. Additionally, application of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in solving real-world complex IHCPs is discussed.
